Which .ai files can be converted?
Files saved from Illustrator with 'Create PDF Compatible File' turned on, which is the default setting. Almost every modern .ai file qualifies, so in most cases it just works.
Why did my file fail to convert?
If an .ai file was saved without PDF compatibility, or is a very old EPS-based file, it has no PDF data to read. Re-save it from Illustrator with the PDF-compatible option enabled and try again.
Will the artwork look exactly the same?
Yes. The PDF keeps the exact page dimensions, artwork, and embedded fonts of the Illustrator file, so it looks identical to the original.
